Well, as you can see. Our final assignment for subject Streaming Media is creating a blog with some our own video or our own audio. I had no idea to do/make about what kind story so I finally create the experience that I ever had, that is cosplay.
Cosplay stands for costume-play. At first, I totally had no interest on it but one of my best buddies, Irene Rizal Tay, the former Hobbycon Vice-president and president of Kota Kinabalu Cosplay Club had influenced me and I finally get into it. You will trying to ape any animation's character and even to copy their personality and action. Gothic Lolita, Punk and Rock also counted in cosplay.
At the year of 2007 where Hobbycon born at Asia City Complex at Kota Kinabalu. It still fresh so there are no wonder about not many people heard about it. Cosplayer on Hobbycon 2007 also just a few, less than 10 people. Me? I didn't cosplay that time and I was one of TDD comic artists, or I should says that formerly.
On 2008, Hobbycon are getting better. Cosplayers were increasing, more than last year. That year was my first time cosplayed ever, as Shiki Tohno from Melty Blood. Seriously, a feeling that we cannot describe when people or so-called paparazzi taking your cosplay photo, and then post them into their blog, friendster and youtube (Facebook still not able on that year). It's getting fun when you are cosplay, photos taken by other people. I was met my ex-girlfriend on that year, she cosplayed as Kaoru from Samurai X. I also can getting to know some of the H-law cosplay group members which is quite popular at Sabah such as Kelvin Kok who cosplayed as Sasori from Naruto. Unexpected, my mentor, Ambrose Goh and his sister, Jasmine Goh was there as well and I never thought that his sister is my junior, which means she also taking Multimedia Application. Some of my diploma college friends such as Daneal and Mohd Hafiz (I don't think you guys know them by the way) also cosplay, cosplayed as Hibari from Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Touhou. By the way, Irene Rizal Tay was very happy and gladful that I finally cosplayed. After the Hobbycon event, another event and we named it as Ultimate Hobbycon Celebration party was held, it was came with Christmas Party as well, means we have to exchange the gifts.
On 2009, Hobbycon is getting better and awesome than last year. Visitors're about 1000 people (but still cannot compared with Comic Fiesta). Hobbycon 2007 and 2008 was held at Asia City but this time was held at City Mall. That's why last year I was on leave even though that time was final exam and I think Madam Suhaila and Madam Azura know about that. This time, we can found more awesome characters such as Allen Walker from D.Gray-man, Bill from first-person shooter game, Left 4 Dead and so on. By the way, I WAS cross-dressing that time and I never thought that I would attracted many girls and most of them asked for my phone number and email address, wow. Many people also said that I had nerves of steel. Some old characters like me, my ex-girlfriend, Kelvin Kok and also some new comers were joined like my mentor's sisters. Guess what? My ex-girlfriend was invited to join the H-laws clan and H-laws were the first place for cosplay competition (group). They cosplayed as Final Fantasy 7, their costume were normal but the awesome is they had the large props that is very outstanding and I bet they were cost a bomb! My mentor's sisters, Jasmine Goh and Adeline Goh were cosplayed as Final Fantasy characters as well and won the second place on group competition. By the way, Jasmine cosplayed as Misa Amane from Death Note the movie for the first day. Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2, a latest first person shooter game which just released. There already got a man who cosplayed as Simon "Ghost" Riley from the game. Simon "Ghost" Riley is a S.A.S Swat team with skeleton mask and own a legendary lieutenant's name, bad is he died, betrayed by his own general. The one who cosplayed as "Ghost" was codenamed Hangman, a fanatic about war. Talking about fanatic, I also just know ex-girlfriend's cousin, Aifer Liew and I got discount if I vist his figurine shop, Yipee!
Now we are talking about Comic Fiesta that held at Sunway Pyramid, Kuala Lumpur. I followed my seniors, Cedric J. Muyuk and Aifa Fame (I think mostly Multimedia lectureres know them). I was fresh that time and first time visited there and doesn't know any rules and I just did a mistake, taking photo at doujin areas. Anyway, some of my friends from Sabah also went there such as Kelvin Kok (again), Reyrobin and ex-girlfriend's friends, Eva Yong and Pump Kin. Seriously, to get in Comic Fiesta, you have to pay RM15 for a one day ticket and RM30 if for 2 days ticket. My suggestion is, if you're only concern about cosplayer, I suggest you don't pay for the ticket and 'waiting' cosplayers at corridor. Since we cannot taking photo at doujin areas, then why we bother to pay to get in the hall if we only concern about cosplayers? I also had a chance to knowing some new friends like Celestia, I think we can team up some day later since we both like Tears to Tiara the anime and our cosplay plans were getting start. I also getting to know another friend who is very parallel with my mentor's sister, Jasmine Goh. Their faces are almost same and her name is, Jasmine Chee. I heard that she's good in drawing and ice-skating (Ahem! I'm not stalking anyone!). Oh yeah, I also can see the disney princess cosplay group and different Final Fantasy group (From FF4 to FF10). Anyway, I think Comic Fiesta is the best event ever, better than Hobbycon. I was thinking if I can able to attend this year Comic Fiesta as well and anticipate as an artist from any group since I'm good in drawing, had a mentor who taught me well, a former TDD artist and own a Deviantart accout (I think I'm over bragging about myself, lol).
Anyway, I waiting for coming Hobbycon and Comic Fiesta. This time, I will cosplay as Arawn Demon King (I know what you thinking, but I'm not implying something.) and Locke Cole from Final Fantasy 6. Hope everything will going well. XD
